Webinar: Positive discipline: How to handle disruptive behavior
CLP / $8 USD / $558 ARS
Teachers are faced today with challenges that go beyond their role as articulators of learning processes in their area of knowledge. These challenges are mainly related to disruptive classroom climates; to students unmotivated by their learning; to recurrent violent behaviour; and to learners’ emotional needs which call for attention. This scenario demands strategies that initial teacher training scarcely provides. In this context, it is necessary to provide in-service teachers with opportunities that may allow them to be better prepared to deal effectively with the increasingly complex classroom situations they are experiencing.
The presentation that follows intends firstly to help teachers understand that disruptive behaviour is almost always rooted in learners’ unsatisfied emotional needs; secondly to identify those emotional needs underlying disruptive behaviour and thirdly to become acquainted with appropriate and possible strategies to effectively address this significant challenge.
